HHS Begins First Partnership in West Virginia
January 21st, 2008
From their official website:
Originally, Cabell Huntington Hospital was a 236-bed hospital that offered general medical and surgical services. Over the years, as our community's healthcare needs have been identified, key specialty units have been added, such as Trauma Services, Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care and the only Burn Intensive Care Unit in West Virginia. A clinical practice center for Marshall University's Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine was added to our campus to make it convenient for patients in our community to see their physicians and undergo hospital testing all under one roof. A freestanding dialysis center was built to accommodate the growing number of patients needing these life-saving services. Important specialty services such as joint replacement, bariatric surgery and geriatric care are now offered because our patients need them. The Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center was built to provide residents with quality cancer care close to home. The most recent addition to our campus is an $85 million five-story tower that features attractive, updated rooms for our patients in the post-surgical and medical nursing unit; the new labor, delivery and recovery unit; the new adult, surgical and cardiac intensive care units; the expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and an inpatient oncology unit. The space where patient rooms used to be will contain new services that our community will need in the years to come. Each new service has been added to answer the challenge of meeting the healthcare needs of those we serve.
The administration, Board of Directors and staff of Cabell Huntington Hospital continue to look to the future, anticipating what new services and technologies will be needed in the years to come, and laying the foundation for top-quality health care in the future. This is how we stay true to our mission and care for our community.
We are very excited to join the CHH team and are looking forward to beginning a long partnership in 2008.
