Medical Center Enterprise EVS Team Members Recognized for Going Above & Beyond

September 21st, 2010

A representative from the Medical Center Enterprise (Enterprise, AL) Standards of Behavior Committee wrote a personal letter to EVS Director John Garcia recognizing the work of EVS Team Member Faith Odom.

"Part of our committee's duty is to recognize individuals who demonstrate excellent service to patients, family members and co-workers," Enterprise Medical Center Standards of Behavior Committee Member Bert Stephens wrote. Stephens continued:

"With that being said, I wanted [to make you aware that] one of your employees, Faith Odom, was nominated for just such an honor.  According to the nomination form, Faith was working recently when she overheard a conversation regarding a patient who had left her unit.  Both she and the telemetry unit she was wearing were missing.  Faith went downstairs to clean and check the bathrooms when she found the missing telemetry unit hidden in the trashcan underneath other paper.  The Nurse that nominated Faith felt she "should be recognized for keeping her eyes and ears open and preventing the loss of invaluable equipment." Needless to say the entire committee agreed!  We're very appreciative in the attitude and willingness to work together as a team that Faith and others do on a daily basis!"

As a result of her actions, Medical Center Enterprise will be awarding Odom the hospital's All Star Award.

The EVS Team at Medical Center Enterprise would also like to recognize Elizabeth Farris for going above and beyond to ensure the patients she assists have the best possible experience. When asked, along with the rest of the EVS team, to come up with creative ways to make an impact with patients, Farris came up with the idea of personally escorting her patients to the lobby upon discharge, whenever possible. As a result, the hospital has received numerous letters from patients, raving about the excellent care they received.

EVS Director John Garcia would like to recognize and thank both Odom and Farris for their personal commitment to the EVS Team and to the entire Medical Center Enterprise family. "We could not be prouder of either of them," Garcia says. "It is an honor to have them on our team."
