Tenet CEO Commends HHRMC EVS Team Member

June 10th, 2010

Hilton Head Regional Medical Center EVS Team Member Georgia Fields has recently been recognized for her commitment to quality care not once, but twice.

The first when former patient Walter Morgan wrote a glowing review of his experience at HHRMC, recognizing Fields by name, which ran as letter to the editor in local paper, The Island Packet.

Morgan was rushed to HHRMC with a sharp pain in his stomach and underwent   emergency surgery. It was the quality of care Morgan received during his week-long recovery period that prompted him to put pen to paper to call out, by name, the several "dedicated" hospital staff members that contributed to his care-including Fields and others.

"With fine, hard working people such as [the group at HHRMC,] it's clear America still has a wonderful future," Morgan wrote.

The second honor came when Fields was recognized in a personal letter of gratitude from Tenet Healthcare CEO Trevor Fetter, via HHRMC CEO Mark O'Neil, Jr.

"I'm pleased to know that the staff at Hilton Head continues to work so hard to offer excellent care to each patient who walks through the hospital doors," Fetter wrote in a personal letter to O'Neil.

O'Neil, in turn, passed the sentiments on to Fields and the rest of the EVS Team.

"Please know that all your hard work is a positive reflection on the hospital, and is truly appreciated," O'Neil wrote. "Thank you for all your efforts, and congratulations to you for taking such pride in your work."

Fields joined the EVS team at HHRMC in 2005 and has proven herself to be a model team member and a valuable asset time and time again.

"Georgia is a delight to work with at Hilton Head Hospital," HHRMC EVS Director Jeffrey Wells says.

"Each day, Georgia comes into work with patient care at heart. She truly cares for the patients on her floor."

"I always felt that I was a people person," Fields says, "and I work with a great team in housekeeping here at Hilton Head."

Fields says she loves talking to patients, and empathizes with each of them; "When I go in to the room, I ask them how they feel," she explains.

"If they tell me they feel good, I tell them, [that makes me] feel good. When they feel bad, I feel bad, too."
