Wooster Community Hospital Named One of Thompson Reuters' “100 Top Hospitals: National Benchmarks” for Third Consecutive Year
April 19th, 2010
On March 29, Thomson Reuters Healthcare named Wooster Community Hospital (WCH) as one of their "100 Top Hospitals: National Benchmarks" for 2009. WCH is one of just four "Medium Community" hospitals (101-249 beds) nationwide to receive this honor each of the past three years (2007-2009).
The award is based on a set of measures that reflect highly-effective performance across the entire organization, including board members, medical staff, management, nursing, and all front-line employees. These measures include:
- Patient outcomes
- Patient safety
- National treatment standards (core measures)
- Patient satisfaction
- Efficiency
- Financial stability
According to a Thompson Reuters representative, receiving this award, "means [WCH] hospital is significantly more likely to provide dependable, high-quality care, because doing the right thing, at the right time, matters to everyone in the hospital.
"Our research has shown that hospitals that win this award three or more times have particularly high levels of performance over many years."
"This is truly a remarkable achievement," says Wooster Community Hospital CEO Bill Sheron.
Upon learning of the award designation, Sheron thanked WCH employees, saying, "It is, again, the result of your hard work and commitment to excellence each day."
