Transport Team Member Lends a Helping Hand

In Texarkana, Texas, patient transport team member Martin Hunt received the Helping Hand Award from his facility. Recently, while transporting a patient, Martin noticed a quick change of condition in the patient. He quickly notified the clinical staff and was able to get immediate life-saving help for the individual. The ER team attended to the patient, who successfully recovered from the situation.

Director Brian Moczynski tells the story: “In transport, we train and talk about change of condition. This is so transporters can recognize when the condition of the patient is changing and may need immediate help.  We received this email below from a security guard about our overnight transporter, Martin Hunt. Martin was able to recognize a change in a patient's condition and was able to get immediate help. The patient was starting to have a seizure and was quickly attended to by ER staff because of Martin's observations. Thank you, Martin, for your keen observation and quick thinking.”
