The most powerful thing about the holiday season is its ability to bring out the best in everyone. An open heart. A generous spirit. A graceful memory.
That’s why we’re dedicating a portion of the holidays to showcasing our team members getting swept up by the spirit of the season. Although our list of multi-industry support services is incredibly diverse, hospitality is at the heart of everything we do. Serving people. Feeding people. Helping people do (and feel!) better.
These holiday stories are a celebration of that feeling. They represent our employees’ most heartfelt efforts to build a better season for everyone. Our first story is about a yearly donation of turkeys and hams to the hardworking healthcare professionals at Paris Regional Health (PRH).
For the last ten years, HHS has been a supporting partner in providing turkeys and hams to team members in Paris, Texas. James Hall, the Director of Nutrition Services at Paris Regional Health, is the driving force behind the annual effort.
Jeffrey Rosier, the HHS Regional Executive Chef for the South, is James’ latest partner in providing something special for the people of PRH around the holidays. “James has always been the trailblazer,” said Chef Jeff. “HHS is proud to be a part of it, but he’s the guy who makes it happen.”
For now, the plan is to keep the tradition alive indefinitely, which hopefully means at least ten more years of turkeys and hams for these Texas team members.
Chef Jeff says the annual giveaway provides a “sense of care” and a “sense of belonging” to the workers at PRH, helping out anyone who might be in need and bringing the whole staff closer together. “It’s become something our employees can depend on, and that’s important during this time of year.”
Loneliness, food insecurity, and a lack of support can be devastating realities, especially around the holidays. Every effort to lighten that load is something to support, and it’s one of our public declarations that our team members matter.
At HHS, everything we do is about providing support. It’s about serving people. It’s about helping them do more or do better. Lending a hand to a seasonal effort like this is a no-brainer. As Chef Jeff sums it up, “This is why we got into this business in the first place.” It’s true, and it’s part of our inspiration for the rest of the year.
Hospitality is baked into the holiday season itself with so many events and activities centered around bringing joy to others—caroling, cooking, and acts of charity. These donations are a small slice of how HHS gets involved, and they’re part of our ongoing effort to build a better holiday season for everyone.
