Team Member Recognized for Saving Patient's life

KathleenIn Anchorage, Alaska, HHS team member Kathleen Sullivan was cleaning patient rooms when she entered the room of a patient and felt that something wasn’t right. Kathleen noticed that the patient’s mouth was open and he had a blank stare on his face. She immediately stopped what she was doing and sought out a nurse to check on the patient. The nurse found that the patient did not have a pulse and wasn’t breathing and immediately initiated CPR and called a code blue. Thanks to Kathleen’s quick actions, the medical team was able to revive the patient. Kathleen was recognized by the hospital CEO and other members of the hospital’s leadership team for her quick actions.

Director of EVS Devin Bartlett said of Kathleen,

“My grandfather, on several occasions, has reminded me to not get so far into the forest that you can’t see the trees. This is a great reminder that at the center of all that we do, there is a patient in a bed relying on us to be excellent! Without question, this patient would not be here today if it had not been for the compassion, concern, and quick actions of Kathleen.”
