Team Members Extinguish Fire to Prevent Damage

In Wellington, Florida, two team members acted quickly and proactively to extinguish a fire that occurred in the kitchen. Team member Ulysee Cerenise noticed a burning smell coming from the kitchen and notified EVS Assistant Director Barbarine Jakusik, who immediately pulled the fire alarm to alert the hospital. Two floor techs who were working nearby, Luxon Louis and Roderick Bennett, took quick action to suppress the fire. They rushed into the kitchen with fire extinguishers in hand and followed “PASS” procedures—pull the pin, aim at the base of the fire, squeeze the handle, sweep side to side—to quickly extinguish the fire. EVS Director Shastri Stuart said of the event, “Thanks to the incredible acts of these fearless team members, the damage caused was significantly reduced and they potentially saved lives in the process!”  Fire Fighters (1) (1)
