HHS Receives A+ Rating on the Humane World Sustainability Scorecard
Dripping Springs, TX (April 21, 2025) - HHS, a leading healthcare culinary service provider, has earned an A+ rating on the Protein Sustainability Scorecard from Humane World for Animals (formerly called the Humane Society of the United States) for the third consecutive year.
This scorecard evaluates the efforts the largest foodservice companies in the country are making when it comes to offering earth-friendly, plant-based menu items. From Humane World, “The scorecard evaluates not just companies’ public sustainability commitments but also their concrete, evidence-backed efforts to reduce food-related emissions—a major contributor to climate change.”
“Earning an A+ rating is more than a mark of excellence - it’s a testament to what’s possible when private industry makes sustainable practice a core part of its ethos,” said Amanda May-Smith, HHS President of Culinary and Nutrition Services. “At HHS, we’re not just serving hospital meals - we’re setting the gold standard for compassion, care, and culinary integrity. Because, simply put, it’s the right thing to do.”
HHS has long prioritized nutrition and sustainable practices and has been officially partnered with Humane World since April 2021, collaborating with the organization on their Global Bowls menu concept and expanding HHS’ showcase of inclusive plant-based recipes.
By 2027, HHS plans to offer 50% of its retail dining meals as plant-based options and reduce animal protein purchases by 25%.
