How to Get Red Wine Out of Carpet

We’re told not cry over spilt milk, but spilt red wine might be just cause for that reaction—especially if it’s on carpet. With any stain, the quicker you act the more likely that it can be removed before it fully sets in and leaves its mark. By using some basic household products, you can create a cleaning solution that will remove the red wine stain out of your carpet and keep your tears at bay.

Items needed:

3 clean cloths

2 small to medium size bowls

1 tablespoon white vinegar

1 tablespoon dishwashing liquid

2 cups warm water

2 cups cold water

Directions:

In one of the small to medium size bowls mix the white vinegar, dishwashing liquid, and warm water. Soak a clean cloth in the solution and wring out the excess water. Dab the soaked cloth on the stain. Use a second, dry cloth to blot up the liquid. Repeat as needed.

Soak a fresh cloth in a bowl of cold water and wring out. Press the damp cloth into the stained area to dilute. Allow the carpet to dry.
